CDL knowledge tests are federally regulated, so the passing score in Oklahoma is the same as everywhere else: 80% correct on every knowledge test. You must also hold a commercial learner’s permit for 14 days before the skills test.

Requirements before you test
Oklahoma CDL test requirements
Commercial licensing is largely federal. Any figure above credited to a 49 CFR section applies in every state — see 49 CFR 383.135(a)(1) and 49 CFR 383.25(e). A figure credited to Service Oklahoma is Oklahoma’s own, and may be stricter than the federal floor. Test length, fees, and scheduling are set by Service Oklahoma (official source).
Entry-Level Driver Training comes first
Since February 7, 2022, a new Class A or Class B CDL, a class upgrade, or a first passenger, school bus, or hazardous materials endorsement requires training from a provider on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry (49 CFR 380.600). Practice questions are study material and do not satisfy that requirement.
FMCSA Training Provider RegistryYou need a Oklahoma licence first
A commercial learner’s permit only counts if you already hold an ordinary licence from the same state (49 CFR 383.25(a)(2)). The Oklahoma non-commercial knowledge test runs 20 questions and needs 15 correct, with permits issued from age 15.

1. Blocking is used in front, back, or sides of cargo to:
- Keep cargo from sliding by fitting snugly and securing to the deck
- BReplace all tiedowns permanently
- CCover cargo from rain only
- DRaise the center of gravity
Answer: Keep cargo from sliding by fitting snugly and securing to the deck. Bracing from the upper cargo to the floor or walls also limits movement in transit.

2. ABS is best described as:
- AA replacement for normal brakes that always shortens stops
- An addition that helps prevent wheel lock during hard braking without replacing normal brake capability
- CA system that only works under 20 mph
- DA substitute for following distance
Answer: An addition that helps prevent wheel lock during hard braking without replacing normal brake capability. ABS activates when lockup is about to occur. You may not stop shorter, but you should keep steering control.

3. A student who was crossing disappears from your view. You should:
- Secure the bus, take the key, and go look for the student
- BWait 30 seconds and then proceed
- CAsk students aboard to look out the windows
- DSound the horn and pull away slowly
Answer: Secure the bus, take the key, and go look for the student. Never move while a child is unaccounted for. Setting the brake and taking the key makes it impossible for the bus to roll while you search.

4. Drivers say liquid shifting is a problem with anything other than:
- ABaffled only
- BHalf full
- Full or empty
- DPressurized only
Answer: Full or empty. Partial loads need the most careful speed, braking, and direction control—especially on ramps.

5. A full tank of a dense liquid (such as some acids) may:
- ARequire no outage
- BEliminate surge entirely
- CAlways be legal at any volume
- Exceed legal weight limits, so you may only partially fill
Answer: Exceed legal weight limits, so you may only partially fill. How much to load depends on expansion (outage), liquid weight, and legal weight limits.
